Centro Cultural de Belém, uma cidade dentro da cidade

O Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) foi uma obra polémica no que concerne à opinião pública. Pensada em 1988, teve algumas as vozes discordantes do investimento e da construção junto a um monumento tão importante como o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (século XVI). Hoje, o CCB é um equipamento cultural sem o qual não os lisboetas não se imaginariam viver.

Na realidade, as paredes revestidas a pedra calcária “Abancado de Pêro Pinheiro” com acabamento “Rústico Gastejado” combinaram na perfeição com o visual do  “seu irmão mais velho”, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Património Mundial da UNESCO, criando uma coerência na paisagem e também o CCB se tornou monumento de interesse público em 2002.

Da autoria do consórcio do Arquiteto Vittorio Gregotti (Itália) e do Arquiteto Manuel Salgado (Portugal), o CCB tem uma área de 97 mil metros quadrados, distribuída por seis hectares. É uma pequena cidade com jardins e vistas privilegiadas para o rio, espaços de restauração e lojas e, claro, área de exposições (80 mil metros quadrados dedicados a exposições temporárias) e espetáculos (três auditórios com capacidade para cerca de duas mil pessoas).

É a morada das artes no todo, parte do roteiro internacional de espetáculos e exposições, abarcando desde as artes plásticas à arquitetura, passando pela fotografia, mas também a dança, a ópera, o bailado e o teatro. Destaca-se a esse propósito a preocupação em oferecer a programação eclética para todas as idades. Ainda em abril apresentou Rui Massena, maestro que ajudou a transformar Guimarães 2012 – Capital Europeia da Cultura, e António Vasco Moraes, fadista. Houve ainda oportunidade para ouvir as bandas portuguesas alternativas como Os Capitães da Areia e os First Breath From Coma, no âmbito do CCBeat.

O CCB abriga também o Museu Coleção Berardo – Arte Moderna e Contemporânea, que até final de agosto ostenta a exposição “Matter Fictions”, com obras de Teodora Valaitis, Ana Hatherly, Harry Smith, Nobuko Tsuchiya, Martin Howse, André Sousa, entre muitos outros, ou ainda a mostra “Enigma, Arte Portuguesa na Coleção Berado”, para ver até setembro de 2016. Conclui-se que o edifício per si merece uma visita aprofundada enquanto peça arquitetónica, mas também pela oferta cultural.

Mas há que descobrir também o Bairro de Belém, uma das mais bonitas zonas de Lisboa. Conhecê-lo é conhecer um imenso património. Poderemos falar de um périplo arquitetónico, suscetível de visita guiada, partindo do Centro Cultural de Belém para o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, ao lado o Museu da Marinha e o Planetário Calouste Gulbenkian, falando apenas da exploração da Praça do Império. Há todo um mundo por desvendar: dos saborosos Pastéis de Belém ao Jardim Tropical, com espécies exóticas, passando pelo Museu Nacional dos Coches, o Palácio de Belém, mas também junto ao Rio Tejo, atravessando pela passagem subterrânea, chega-se ao Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a perpetuar os feitos heroicos de ancestrais Navegadores, e à Torre de Belém.
