Romance with a view over the Tagus River
And why not start the year with a little bit of romance?
Best Experience Lisbon invites you to greet the New Year with an 180º romantic view over the Tagus River, the Sintra Mountains and the Atlantic sea.
Tago’s restaurant, in Almada, offers such views due to its unique location. To get there, you may take a helicopter (Lisbon Helicopters) and land next to the restaurant, or sail through the Tagus River with Palmayachts.
Luís Barradas, the chef in charge of the kitchen, is a fan of herbs and good fish, which he brings from the Setúbal market every morning.
Flavours from the sea or land, from Portugal or around the world, make Tago’s a space of culinary journeys. The wood-fired oven, that uses several types of wood, leads to a different use and interaction with gastronomy. At Tago’s there’s also a brunch, with a few traditional Portuguese recipes, our cheeses and sausages and wines.
For the first culinary journey, Tago’s recommends the generous tasting menu, inspired by the freshness of the fish and prepared with the chef’s creativity.
Tagos history
Tago’s restaurant inherits the name of the king who named the Tagus River, “Tago”, the fifth King of Hispania, of great beauty and courage, who was brutally murdered.
Tago’s is part of the Quinta do Tagus complex, previously owned by one of the greatest Portuguese painters and ceramic artists of the nineteenth century, now turned into an exclusive Guest House.
The outside was carefully remodelled in order to respect the surroundings, becoming a part of the stunning view over the Portuguese capital. From here you can see the Sintra Mountains, the Tagus River, the Discoveries Monument, the Belém Tower, The 25th of April Bridge, Lisbon and the Atlantic Ocean, with the tranquillity and peace you will only get in the countryside and only 25 km away from Lisbon.
You can stay at Quinta do Tagus, walk around the countryside next to Lusitano horses that run freely and enjoy a quiet sunny afternoon next to the pool while contemplating a panoramic view.
